From June 1st to 5th, 2019, Hamburg hosted the 110th Rotary International Convention – one of the city's largest and most international events. More than 25,000 Rotary members from over 170 countries came together, transforming Hamburg for a few days into a global meeting place for exchange, collaboration, and cultural diversity.

The event transformed the Hamburg Messe und Congress into a vibrant platform for international exchange. Often described as a "mini-United Nations," the congress offered a diverse program of lectures, workshops, and discussions. Leading figures from politics and business—including Peter Tschentscher and Timotheus Höttges—shared their perspectives on global challenges.
In addition to the professional exchange, the participants also experienced the special atmosphere of the Hanseatic city, among other things.
during visits to the Elbphilharmonie and St. Michaelis Church, as well as during joint activities along the Jungfernstieg.

The commitment to the global eradication of polio also played a key role. Rotary Herford participated locally with its End Polio chocolate campaign , selling specially designed chocolates to raise funds for polio eradication. The proceeds supported vaccination programs worldwide and made a concrete contribution to the fight against the disease.
The Rotary International Convention 2019 in Hamburg combined international cooperation with local engagement and impressively demonstrated how global goals can be achieved through joint action and creative initiatives.
