In September 2025, Rotary members from across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa gathered in Brussels for the Rotary Fusion Summit 2025—one of the largest regional Rotary events of the year. With more than 1,500 participants, the summit provided a dynamic platform for collaboration, innovation, and global engagement.
Under the theme “Breaking Barriers, Building Bridges,” the event focused on strengthening international partnerships and addressing global challenges such as peacebuilding, sustainability, and public health. Over several days, participants took part in keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive workshops covering topics such as global health, digital transformation, human rights, and economic development.
A key highlight of the summit was Rotary’s ongoing commitment to eradicating polio. Special “Polio Plus Talks” brought together international health experts and partners, including representatives from the World Health Organization, to discuss progress, challenges, and innovative approaches in the fight against polio.
Alongside these global perspectives, Rotary clubs also showcased impactful local initiatives that directly contribute to this goal. Rotary Herford presented its End Polio chocolate project—a creative fundraising campaign in which specially designed chocolate was sold to support polio eradication efforts.
This initiative clearly demonstrated how local actions can have a global impact: every chocolate bar sold helped fund vaccines and support immunization campaigns worldwide. By engaging the public in a simple and tangible way, Rotary Herford showed how even small initiatives can make a meaningful contribution to the vision of a polio-free world.
The Rotary Fusion Summit 2025 thus highlighted not only the importance of international cooperation, but also recognized the power of local projects—making it clear that eradicating polio requires both global partnerships and creative grassroots initiatives.
